Snack Showdown: Kewaza versus Taste of Nature

Did you enjoy yesterday’s recipe? :P I’m not usually much of a trickster, but I simply couldn’t refuse being a bit silly on April Fool’s Day. Today’s post is no joke though; I’m reviewing two awesome vegan snack products and giving you a chance to win some of your own!

Kewaza

Kewaza

Kewaza is Toronto-based company whose product reminds me of LARABAR (one of my personal favourites)!  Although not all flavours are vegan, they are completely organic and the (few) ingredients are clearly listed and make you feel good about snacking! I was sent the Cookie Dough, Peanut Butter Cookie Dough, and Red Banana Bread to try, and they were all to die for! Kewaza is sold at a variety of retailers in the GTA, as well as online.

Taste of Nature

Taste of Nature

Taste of Nature is another Canadian company who strive to produce organic and zero-carbon emission snack bars. They have a ton of interesting flavours to choose from and are certified vegan. One thing that really stood out for me with Taste of Nature, in comparison to similar snack bars, is that sugar (or agave, brown rice syrup, etc) wasn’t the first ingredient! Taste of Nature Bars are sold throughout Canada and the US, and can also be purchased online.

Showdown!

So how do these products compare? Truthfully, I found them to both be great, but in different ways:

Ingredients

You can’t really go wrong with all the organic and wholesome ingredients in these snacks. Kewaza scores a point here, however, since they use only dates as sweetener in their vegan flavours! Taste of Nature gets an honourable mention for not listing sugar as the first ingredients.

Size and Shape

Both brands are great for different reasons. Kewaza’s small and compact size is perfect for popping before a yoga class or workout, where Taste of Nature takes a bit longer to enjoy. Both are equally great for throwing into your bag for an on-the-go snack!

Flavours

As of now, Kewaza has five flavours, where Taste of Nature has upwards of 12 flavours to choose from! Whatever brand you choose, there’s bound to be a flavour for you.

The Winner

If I had to choose one over the other, I would probably opt for Kewaza only because I love supporting small businesses and prefer to snack on as few added sweeteners as possible. At the same time, it’s great to know that Taste of Nature is a great vegan snack that is available at many retailers over the continent.

Now it’s your chance to win! A lucky reader will receive a Kewaza prize pack containing a variety of flavours. The contest is open to Canadian residents only (sorry international friends); use the Rafflecopter widget below to enter.
